I discovered decorative painting in 1987 when I took a class with my sister in law, and have been painting ever since. One of the scariest (and best) things I ever did was try for my CDA. I was so happy when I passed in 2006! I have two projects scheduled for Back to the Beach. The first is Bruce the Beta. Bruce’s secret is he just looks complicated. He is painted with layers of thin washes and the negative painting gives him his final definition. He gets a bit of sparkle with the addition of metallic accents. This is a great class to practice sidloading and controlled stroke work.
My second class is Beetle Brigade. The beetle starts with some painting and is good skill building for controlling washes. This is a good class for the beginning painter with some experience that is looking to add designing with mixed media elements to their painting repertoire. More advanced painters would also find this class interesting as each student will have different materials to choose from to create their own version of the beetle.Back to the Beach promises to be a great place to visit with old painting friends, make new painting friends, learn some new techniques or increase your skill level by studying just one – all in a beautiful, tranquil beachside setting.
